Tsuru (Long Life Cranes)

This 58 inch Fireball was commissioned for a large landscaping project. The owners are a Japanese and American couple who met and fell in love in Japan. They requested images honoring their Japanese heritage and love of traditional Japanese art as well as their beloved family pets. This piece primarily contains waves reminiscent of “The Great Wave” by artist Hokusai, Tsuru (cranes) representing happiness, longevity and good luck and sakura (cherry blossoms) representing beauty, the ephemeral nature of life and renewal. As we developed the design the couple realized they also hoped for a favorite temple, pagoda, koi fish, an owl as well as their pet cat, poodle and a hummingbird.

Their project was designed for use with electric LED lighting and to be installed over a reflection pond.
